Reach to Recovery Benefit, an American Cancer Society program, will be from 5:30 p

Reach to Recovery Benefit, an American Cancer Society program, is 5:30 p.m. to 7:30 p.m. Saturday at The Parkview, 1915 Poplar Ave. Tickets are $15 and include a wine and cheese party, door prizes, food and music. Reach to Recovery is a program in which volunteers are trained to respond to the concerns of patients and their families facing the diagnosis, treatment and effects of breast cancer. Tour dates for the Bright Idea House are extended to Aug. 23. The house at 62 S. Cox St. was renovated and decorated by volunteer contractors and designers and will be auctioned in late August to benefit the Womens Foundation for a Greater Memphis. The house is open for tours from noon to 6 p.m. Thursdays and Fridays, 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. Saturdays and 1 p.m. to 7 p.m. Sundays. Tickets are $5.

 

Lifeblood, Mid-South Regional Blood Center, and Baskin Robbins Ice Cream are partnering in the Pint for a Pint campaign. Every person who tries to donate during August will receive a coupon for a free pint of ice cream from participating Baskin Robbins stores, while supplies last. Writer, educator and activist Parker J. Palmer will speak on Divided No More; Reweaving Our Lives, Renewing the World at 7 p.m. Sept. 8 at Rhodes College in the Bryan Campus Life Ballroom. An art pottery exhibit opens Sept. 6 at the Christian Brothers University gallery. Running through Oct. 25, the exhibit features the tiles and plaques from a private collection on loan to the university. An opening reception is 5:30 to 7:30 p.m. Sept. 6. Fall gallery hours are from 7:45 a.m. to 11 p.m. Monday to Thursday, 7:45 to 4:30 p.m. Fridays, noon to 4 p.m. Saturdays and 2 p.m. to 11 p.m. Sundays. For information, call 321-3432.
