The Memphis Bar Association will host a bring-your-own-lunch lecture from noon to 2 p

The Memphis Bar Association will host a bring-your-own-lunch lecture from noon to 2 p.m. Tuesday. The speakers are Minton Mayer of Spicer Flynn & Rudstrom and Edward Bearman of Branson & Bearman. Attendees can earn two hours of general continuing legal education credit. The event is in the MBA conference room, Suite 1050, in the NBC Bank building. The cost is $30 for MBA members, $40 for non-members and $30 for non-attorneys or no CLE credit. Pre-registration is strongly recommended. For information, call 527-3573.

 

The Memphis Bar Association Young Lawyers Division presents an insurance update from noon to 2 p.m. Wednesday at the MBA conference center, One Commerce Square, Suite 1050. Speakers are Darryl Gresham of Neely Green Fargarson Brooke & Summers and Trey Jordan of McDonald Kuhn. The course offers two hours of continuing legal education credit. Registration is $40 for MBA members, $50 for non-members or $20 for non-attorneys or those who do not need CLE credit.

 

The Memphis Chapter of the Association of Legal Administrators hosts its monthly membership meeting at noon Aug. 8 at the University Club of Memphis, 1346 Central Ave. Speakers Michael McManus and Mike Reilly of Executive Financial Services will discuss 401(K) changes. The ALA board of directors monthly meeting is 5:15 p.m. Aug. 29 at the Davis-Kidd Booksellers, 387 Perkins Extended Road.

 

Baker, Donelson, Bearman & Caldwell will host a labor and employment law seminar from 8 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. Aug. 29 at the Radisson Summit Hill in Knoxville, Tenn. The seminar covers issues managers, supervisors and executives face in the workplace and offers the information they need to effectively deal with those issues, said Steven Trent, Baker Donelsons labor and employment practice group chair. The seminar will cover topics such as union avoidance strategies and policies; recognizing and preventing harassment; post-Sept. 11 employment law considerations; and strategies for ensuring a drug-free workplace. Speakers include John J. Matchulat, Kelli L. Thompson and LeAnn Mynatt. The fee for the seminar is $75 per attendee. Registration deadline is Aug. 22.
