Patrick Arnoult, Memphis Bar Association president, has released the report of
the nominations and elections committee.
The
2002 president will be David Wade. Vice president will be Irma W. Merrill. Both
automatically succeed to those positions under MBA bylaws.
Voting
members of the MBA will vote on the other officers. Nominees for those
positions are: John J. Heflin III, treasurer; and David E. Caywood or Susan M.
Clark, secretary.
In
addition, MBA voting members will elect eight individuals to the board of
directors for a two-year term beginning Jan. 1.
The
nominees for those positions are: Danese Blankenship, David Blaylock, Elizabeth
T. Collins, Sara Flowers-Dent, Charles C. Harrell, Linda L. Holmes, Joedae L. Jenkins,
Monika L. Johnson, Kathryn A. King, George T. Buck Lewis III, Minton Mayer,
Thomas L. Parker, Archie Sanders III, Teresa J. Sigmon, Richard R. Spore III
and Daniel L. Taylor.
Under
MBA bylaws, three section representatives are elected to the board of directors
for a one-year term beginning Jan. 1.
The
following individuals were nominated by the MBA sections to vie for those three
seats: Eugene C. Gaerig, Social Security Section; Allen T. Malone,
Environmental Law Section; S. Denise McCrary, Divorce and Family Law Section;
Paul E. Prather, Labor and Employment Law Section; Stephen W. Ragland,
Bankruptcy Section; and P. Preston Wilson, Wills and Probate Section.
According
to MBA bylaws, any five voting members of the association may nominate any other
voting member for treasurer, secretary or the board of directors (except
section representative) not later than seven days after publication of this
nominations committee report.
Such
nomination should be addressed to MBA executive director Anne Fritz, 1050 One
Commerce Square, Memphis, Tenn., 38103, and should specify the nominees name,
the position for which nominated and that the nominee agreed to serve if
elected. Each of the five voting members must sign the nomination, which will
be deemed filed upon its receipt at the MBA office.
