A beer and wine tasting followed by a preview of the Playhouse on the Square production of Grease begins at 7 p The 2001 Shelby County Government Drive for Lifeblood is 8:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. June 28 in front of 150 Washington Ave. Last year, the spring drive drew nearly 200 donors. The goal this year is 300 donors. Currently, the overall blood supply is in satisfactory condition, but there are shortages of O positive and O negative blood. The Memphis Bar Association Young Lawyers Division hosts an insurance update from noon to 1 p.m. June 13 at the MBA Conference Room. Speakers are Darryl Gresham of Neely Green Fargarson Brooke & Summers and Trey Jordan of McDonald Kuhn. The cost for MBA members is $25. Non-members cost is $35 or $15 for non-attorneys or those who do not need continuing legal education credit. The course is approved for one hour CLE credit. The Shelby County Government 2001 Food Drive for the Food Bank kick-off is 11 a.m. June 7 for the countys East departments in front of the housing department, 1075 Mullins Station Road and 11 a.m. June 8 for the Downtown offices in the commission chambers. The Downtown kick-off features the unveiling of the official Operation Feed poster. After the unveiling, Support Services will sell barbecue and a bake sale begins at 150 Washington Ave. Last year, the county scored 1.9 million points. This years goal is 2 million points. The Memphis Bar Association released it latest judicial evaluation survey. Questionnaires were sent to all licensed lawyers in Shelby County, not just MBA members. Each lawyer was asked to evaluate judges before whom that lawyer had appeared. Of the 2,907 lawyers who received the survey, 695 responded. The survey is conducted every two years.
