The 19th annual Memphis Potters Guild holiday show and sale is Nov
The 19th annual Memphis Potters Guild holiday show and sale is Nov. 17-19 at Grace-St. Lukes Church, at Peabody and Belvedere. The opening reception is 5 p.m. to 9 p.m. Nov. 17. Show hours are 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. Nov. 18 and noon to 5 p.m. Nov. 19. Admission is free. The show features work by local artists in porcelain, stoneware and earthenware encompassing a broad spectrum of ceramic objects including Raku sculptural vessels, jewelry, utilitarian pottery and home accessories. Tops Barbeque is teaming up with Lifeblood, Mid-South Regional Blood Center, during November. Anyone who tries to donate blood during the month will receive a coupon for a free barbeque sandwich, while supplies last. Tops also provided 24 whole shoulder special certificates, which will be given away by drawing during the month. A state funding forum, sponsored by The Grant Center, in collaboration with state Sen. Roscoe Dixons office and the Memphis Office of Intergovernmental Relations, is 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. today at the Jewish Community Center, 6560 Poplar Ave. The purpose of the forum is to help area non-profit organizations learn about the availability of state and federal pass-through resources.
The third annual Womens Heart Association Heart Conference is set from 7:30 a.m. to 2:30 p.m. Nov. 18 in the Tennessee Ballroom at the Adams Mark hotel. The one-day event features lectures, a Spanish language session, health screenings, breakfast and lunch. Tickets are $5 and are available by calling the American Heart Association, 526-4616.
The Friends of the Library will host a book sale at the Cossitt Branch Library, 33 S. Front St., from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. Nov. 30 through Dec. 2. On Dec. 1, all adult fiction books will be $1 each. Proceeds from the sale go toward the Friends of the Librarys $1 million commitment to Project: InfoHUB, now under construction at 3030 Poplar Ave.
