Anyone who brings to one of 15 Powertel locations in Memphis or DeSoto County, a new pair of shoes, still in the box, and a receipt for donation will receive $20 off a new or existing Powertel account through Sept. 30. The shoes will be distributed through the Salvation Army to children who need good shoes for school. To determine which locations are participating, call any Powertel retail location.

A salute to the music of Broadway and the big bands will be performed by the Memphis Vocal Arts Ensemble at 7:30 tonight and 3 p.m. Sunday at the William H. Rose Theater of the Buckman Performing and Fine Arts Center, 60 Perkins Extended. "Broadway and Beyond: The Incomparable Forties," launches the 10th season of the ensemble.
