Calendar of events: June 5 11 Calendar of events: July 3-July 9 July 3 The second annual Road Runner Firecracker 5K Run/Walk begins at 7 a.m. at the Racquet Club of Memphis, 5111 Sanderlin Ave. The event benefits St. Jude Childrens Research Hospital. Afterward, a pool party with childrens activities, live music, dancing and a holiday cookout begins. The entry fee is $15. "Red, White and Blues" fireworks extravaganza is 4 p.m. to midnight throughout the Beale Street district and Tom Lee Park. July 6 Business Network International, The Business Referral Organization, meets from 7:15 a.m. to 8:30 a.m. at Perkins restaurant, 1340 S. Germantown Road. Upcoming events July 10 Tekkies Inc., a computer service and training firm, is offering a computer camp for children ages 6 to 13 in July. Classes for 6- to 9-year-olds are 9 a.m. to noon July 10-14 or July 17-21. Classes for 10- to 13-year-olds are 1 p.m. to 4 p.m. those dates. The National Civil Rights Museum is sponsoring Summer Exploration Camp for 12- to 14-year-olds July 10 through August 4 at the University of Memphis. The camp offers the opportunity to enhance childrens critical thinking and investigative skills as they explore evidence and events surrounding the assassination of Martin Luther King Jr. Activities include interviews with journalists, civil rights leaders, attorneys and law enforcement agents. This course is open to registered nurses with a bachelor of science in nursing degree or masters degree who wish to provide non-invasive care to those in their spiritual community. July 28 The Juvenile Diabetes Foundations second annual wine tasting, "Discover a Taste of the Pacific Rim," begins at 7 p.m. in the lobby of Pembroke Square in Peabody Place.
