MBA finalizes officer, director slate for 2000
The slate of candidates for the Memphis Bar Associations election of officers and directors for 2000 has been finalized, the MBA announced last week.
David Wade is the sole nominee for treasurer. Charlotte Knight Griffin and Irma Merrill are the candidates for secretary.
Candidates for the board of directors are Louis Britt, Charles Carpenter, Susan Clark, Ellen Fite, John Heflin, Ross Higman, Deborah Henderson, Odell Horton Jr., Kathy King, Buck Lewis, Sherry Lipman, Venita Martin, Paul Matthews, Caren Nichol, Tommy Parker and Gwen Rooks.
The eight individuals receiving the highest number of votes will be elected to a two-year term on the board beginning Jan. 1.
Section representative nominees are Stuart Breakstone, Will Gotten, Robert Hutton, Bailey Leopard, James Smoot, Jim Summers and Hollis Williams.

Ballots will be mailed to MBA voting members no later than Friday and must be returned to the accounting firm of BDO Seidman by 5 p.m. Dec. 3.
Winners will be announced at the MBA annual banquet on Dec. 9 at the Peabody Hotel.
Sen. Howard Baker is the featured speaker for the banquet.
Tickets are $50 per person for MBA members, $60 for non-members and $25 for law students and guests.
