A Washington, D.C., attorney who champions religious freedom will deliver two lectures Tuesday at the University of Memphis. Nathan Lewin will speak at noon at the Cecil C. Humphreys School of Law on his experiences arguing before the U.S. Supreme Court. At 7:30 p.m. at the Fogelman Executive Center, he will speak on religious freedom in America. Lewin has argued before the Supreme Court 27 times, primarily representing Jewish clients in the areas of the First Amendment and freedom of religion. His appearance is sponsored by the Jewish Law Students Association. For more information, call 452-2453. The Justice Network Inc. will hold a golf scramble at the Memphis Oaks Golf Club, 4142 E. Holmes Road at 8 a.m. Oct. 23. Proceeds will benefit the Community Legal Center, a volunteer network of more than 200 lawyers who provide pro bono services to qualifying area residents. Tickets are $75 per person or $20 for non-golfers. Prizes will be awarded and a barbecue lunch will be served by Neelys. For more information, call Ellen Fite at 526-1088. The Memphis Bar Association will sponsor its 13th annual Bankruptcy Section Seminar from 8 a.m. to 4 p.m. Friday at the Memphis Area Home Builders Association, 776 N. Germantown Parkway. The cost is $225 for members, $250 for non-members and $100 for non-attorneys. The seminar offers 6.25 hours of continuing legal education credit.
