Resource Bancshares Mortgage Bruce Clark has been named senior vice president, systems technology and support, and chief information officer for AutoZone Inc. He most recently was chief information officer and senior vice president, telemarketing, for Brylane Inc. Steve Valentine, who formerly was senior vice president, systems technology and support, and chief information officer, was named AutoZones senior vice president, international. Shirley Burford has been promoted to regional manager for BellSouth. She formerly was public relations specialist. She is a graduate of the University of Memphis. James A. Ralston has been named senior vice president and general counsel for Smith & Nephew Inc. He formerly was vice president, general counsel and corporate secretary for Eagle-Picher Industries Inc. in Cincinnati. He is a graduate of the University of Virginia and the University of Cincinnati College of Law. John Knox Walkup, Tennessees attorney general for the past two years, will join the law firm of Wyatt, Tarrant & Combs. He will serve as counsel in the firms Nashville office. He is a graduate of Centre College and the Harvard University Law School. Gayle Mobley has been appointed vice president/office manager for Laureate Realty Services Inc.s new loan production office in Memphis. She most recently was director/team leader for Criimi Mae Inc. She is a graduate of Mississippi State University. Randall M. Engel has joined Laureate Realty Services as real estate officer. Engel previously was a loan officer with Criimi Mae Inc. He is a graduate of Christian Brothers University and the University of Memphis. Mark Luttrell Jr. has been appointed director of the Shelby County Division of Corrections. Luttrell has served since 1995 as warden of the Federal Correctional Institution in Memphis. He received a bachelors degree from Union University and a masters degree from the University of Memphis. Glenn D. Schaible and Jan Mansel have been promoted to vice presidents at Loeb Properties Inc. Scott Coleman has joined Sunpoint Securities Inc. of Longview, Texas. He was formerly with Hilliard Lyons. Coleman will work from his home in Olive Branch, Miss. Linda Coleman will serve as sales assistant. Frederick W. Smith, chairman, president and chief executive officer of FDX Corp., and Dennis H. Jones, executive vice president for information and logistics services for FDX Corp., will receive the University of Memphis Societys Walter A. Barret Distinguished Service Award for helping secure funding for the new technology center at the Fogelman College of Business and Economics. Steve Sisson of Tesco Properties Inc. has been elected president of the Memphis chapter of the Institute of Real Estate Management. Other officers include vice president Anthony Lopes of Koger Equity Inc., treasurer Carole Lacey of Trammell Crow Co. and secretary Giles Palo of Allen & OHara Inc. Lacey of Trammell Crow Co. has been named Certified Property Manager of the Year by the Institute of Real Estate Management. Dr. Surendra P. Agrawal, an accounting professor at the University of Memphis, has been named a Fulbright professor at Fort Hare University in South Africa.
