The Memphis Bar Associations Young Lawyers Division will sponsor a seminar from 1:30 p.m. to 4:45 p.m. today at Memphis City Council chambers titled "Reducing Your Stress as a Lawyer Without Reducing Your Success as a Lawyer." The speakers include Laura Chastain, chief deputy disciplinary counsel for the Board of Professional Responsibility; certified counselor Steve Watts; Judge Janice Holder; and attorney Lucian Pera. The seminar offers three hours of ethics continuing legal education credit.
The University of Mississippi will sponsor a seminar on negotiation from 9 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. Friday at the Peabody Hotel. The speaker will be Paul M. Lisnek, who will discuss negotiating with credibility, reviewing the experience, selecting appropriate tactics, guarding concessions and drafting effective agreements. The cost is $225.
The Memphis Bar Association will sponsor a seminar titled "11th Hour CLE" from 9 a.m. to 12:15 p.m. and 1:30 p.m. to 4:45 p.m. Dec. 28 and Dec. 29. The sessions on Dec. 28 include "The Essence of Advocacy" and "The Language of Persuasion" featuring Jim McElhaney. The sessions on Dec. 29 include "How to Deal with the Difficult Lawyer" and "Recent Developments in Family Law." All sessions are videotaped presentations with a moderator. The cost is $100 per session for MBA members and $125 for non-members.
