Citing traffic concerns and space, an engineering firm is moving east Companies expanding on Cordova Station By KATHLEEN BURT The Daily News Two companies are building new office space on Cordova Station Avenue just off Germantown and Macon roads. BCM of Memphis LLC and Hospitality Contract Services are building new offices on the avenue that are similar in look and feel to a residence. The building permit for BCM was issued Monday by Shelby County Code Enforcement. The permit for Hospitality Contract Services new space was issued July 21. "Construction has just started. We poured the slab yesterday (Thursday), so were officially underway," said Skip Bolton, one of the principals in Hospitality Contract Services. Hospitality Contract Services is a hotel design and furnishing company that built offices about eight or nine years ago at 993 Cordova Station Ave., next door to the new offices at 1005 Cordova Station. The Boltons have since sold the building currently occupied by Hospitality and are leasing the space until the new offices are finished. The $257,000 project will take about six months to complete, Bolton said. Summerset Homes Inc. is the general contractor. The new offices will contain about 5,000 square feet in 1.5 stories. Bolton said the upper floor will contain expandable space to accommodate future growth. The building will be similar is design to the companys current offices. "We liked the design of the building were in now, and we expanded on that," Bolton said. BCM of Memphis LLC is planning the move from its current location at 993 Reddoch Cove off Poplar Avenue to 1015 Cordova Station Ave. Some site work has been done on the $272,000 project, but recent wet weather has slowed construction, said Bill Cain, BCM's chief manager. Calamis Building Inc. is the general contractor on the project. The single-story, brick veneer building will contain about 3,500 square feet, an increase from the 2,200 square feet BCM occupies now. "Weve run out of room at the current location. Were really excited about the bigger building," Cain said. In addition, a majority of the firms employees live in the Bartlett, Cordova and Germantown areas, so the commute to work will be shortened tremendously, Cain said. The new office will be a single-tenant facility owned by BCM. Affiliate Barham and Associates will lease the space from BCM, Cain said. BCM has been at the Reddoch Cove location since about 1990.
