Shelby County judicial candidates will be interviewed by local journalists in forums that will be carried on Time Warner Communications cable channels
Shelby County judicial candidates will be interviewed by local journalists in forums that will be carried on Time Warner Communications cable channels. The next forum will be broadcast at 5:30 p.m. today and will feature candidates in General Sessions, Juvenile and Criminal court races. The programs will be available to Time Warner customers on SmartLink channel 6 or cable-ready channel 20. The candidates will be interviewed by Stephanie Scurlock of News Channel 3; Jackson Baker, political writer for the Memphis Flyer; and Calvin Anderson, chairman of the Tennessee Election Commission. Time Warner is sponsoring the event in cooperation with the League of Women Voters and the Jewish Community Center.
The Memphis Bar Association continues its Summer Video CLE Series on Tuesday at the MBA Conference Center, One Commerce Square, Suite 1050. Professor Irving Younger will lead the series and will focus on Hearsay in this week's video replay. Tuesday's session is set from 2 p.m. to 5:15 p.m. Registration for MBA members is $60 per individual session and $50 per session if three or more are registered together. Non-member fees are $70 per session or $60 for registering three or more people. This session offers three hours continuing education credit. This series continues through Aug. 25.
The Young Lawyers Division of the Memphis Bar Association will sponsor a five-mile run/walk at 6:30 p.m. Aug. 7. The race will start Downtown and continue along Riverside Drive with a post-race party at Jefferson Davis Park. Proceeds benefit the Make-A-Wish Foundation. For more information, call 680-9474.
The Memphis Bar Association will sponsor a seminar on choosing a business entity at noon Aug. 13 at the Peabody. The speaker will be Richard Spore of Burch Porter & Johnson PLLC. The cost before Aug. 11 will be $35 for MBA members, $40 for non-members and $25 for other attendees.
