Equity Inns Names Donald H
Michael S. Starnes, chairman and chief executive officer of M.S. Carriers, has been appointed to the board of directors of Mid-America Apartment Communities Inc. Starnes is past chairman of the U.S. Chamber of Commerce and currently serves as chairman of its executive committee.
Donald H. Dempsey has been appointed chief financial officer for Equity Inns Inc. Dempsey formerly served as executive vice president and chief financial officer of Choice Hotels International Inc. and also spent 14 years at Promus Hotel Corp. and its predecessor companies. He is a graduate of Mississippi State University. Dempsey and Howard Silver, president and chief operating officer of Equity Inns, will be named to the board of directors for Equity Inns Inc. upon the completion of its planned merger with RFS.
Marigay Bryson has been named manager of physician services for Methodist Healthcare. She formerly was a physician practice consultant for Jewish Hospital Healthcare Services in Louisville, Ky.
Patti Wiseman has been named director of telehealth services for Methodist Healthcare. She formerly was director of physician services.
Len Walker has been promoted to vice president of finance for Continental Traffic Services Inc. He has served as controller since 1992. Walker is a graduate of the University of Memphis and Christian Brothers University.
Sue Mars has been named human resources manager for Continental Traffic Services Inc. She has served as expediting manager and manager of customer service.
Gwen St. Sauver has been promoted to manager of accounting for Continental Traffic Services Inc. She formerly was assistant manager of accounting.
Mark Genereaux has been appointed to the newly created position of senior vice president at Mark VII Worldwide Logistics Inc. He has been with the company for five years.
David Sedgwick has been appointed fleet manager for Liberty Auto Superstore. He has been in the fleet business for more than 14 years and formerly was associated with Shelby Dodge.
Harry Flowers has been named director of information services at State Technical Institute. He formerly was responsible for system and network management of central computing resources at the University of Memphis.
Christopher A. Clifton of the Memphis Area Chamber of Commerce was elected to the board of directors of the American Economic Development Council.
J. Crosby Taylor Jr. has been named national sales manager for Morgan Keegan & Co. Inc.s Financial Institutions Group. Taylor, a senior vice president, joined the company in 1996. He is a graduate of the University of Memphis.
Pickering Inc. has announced four new employees.
Ray Chumney has joined Pickering as a senior survey technician. He has an associates degree from State Technical Institute and a bachelors degree from the University of Memphis.
John Brandon Cox has joined the company as an environmental scientist. He previously worked for the Tennessee Department of Environment and Conservation in Jackson. Cox has a bachelors degree from Middle Tennessee State University.
Penny R. Flynn has joined Pickering as an executive secretary. She has a masters degree from the University of Memphis.
Michael Stanfield has joined the company as a reprographics technician. He previously worked for Manpower Technical.
Dr. Susan Peterson-Mansfield has been named dean of the College of Allied Health Sciences at the University of Tennessee-Memphis. She formerly was interim dean in the College of Health Professions at Northern Arizona University. She received an associates degree from North Dakota State, bachelors and masters degrees from Northern Arizona State and a doctorate from the University of Memphis.
