Pip Printing is doubling its space in Memphis with a move to 1000 June Road from its current location at 540 S. Mendenhall Road.
The company will lease 4,000 square feet in a building being built by a partnership, which includes the chief principal of GTS Computing. GTS will occupy the remaining space of the 5,700-square-foot building.
Craig Cowles, president of the corporation which owns the Pip Printing franchise on Mendenhall, said the business has grown by double digits each of the 10 years it has been open.
"We need more space because we are tripping over each other," Cowles said.
He said Pip Printing plans to hire additional staff after the move, which is scheduled for early June.
Cowles said the property on June Road was a lucky find.
"One of the principals in the building is also one of our vendors, GTS Computing, and they service our computing network," Cowles said. "It was one of those rare situations where they were in servicing our computers and I said, Gee, I have to find a building with more space. They said, That's interesting, we are building a building."
GTS Computing, which has been in business for three years, is expanding, as well. The company will move its six employees to the new building from 5860 Ridgeway Center Parkway, expanding from 800 square feet to 2,000 square feet.
Roy Graber, chief manager of GTS, said the new building is convenient to Poplar Avenue and the expressway.
"We service clients all over Shelby County and DeSoto County," Graber said. "So being right at the expressway for us we can be anywhere in the county in 20 to 30 minutes."
June Road LLC purchased the property in June from Etta M. Bauer for $146,125, according to a warranty deed filed in the Shelby County Registers Office. Hasco Inc. is the general contractor on the construction of the building.
GTS Computing sells and supports computer networks and workstations.
PIP Printing, founded in 1965, began franchising PIP stores in 1968, a move that has led to more than 500 PIP locations in 41 states and more than 400 franchise owners.
