The Memphis Bar Association will present a seminar titled Trial Practice Essentials on Thursday from 9 a The Memphis Bar Association will present a seminar titled "Trial Practice Essentials" on Thursday from 9 a.m. to 12:15 p.m. at One Commerce Square. Speakers include Bill Haltom of Thomason, Hendrix, Harvey, Johnson & Mitchell; Cecil McWhirter of McWhirter & Wyatt; Robert Green of Neely, Green, Fargarson, Brooke & Summers; and Dixie White Ishee. Their topics will be jury selection, opening statements/closing arguments, examining witnesses and admitting evidence/evidence issues, respectively. The seminar offers three hours of continuing legal education credit. The cost is $85 for MBA members and $95 for nonmembers. The Memphis Bar Associations Young Lawyers Division will present a seminar on ethics on Friday from 9 .m. to 12:15 p.m. in City Hall council chambers. The speaker will be Lance Bracy of the Tennessee Board of Professional Responsibility. Panel members will be John Thomason of Thomason, Hendrix, Harvey, Johnson & Mitchell PLLC; Herman Morris Jr. of Memphis Light, Gas & Water; and Frank Glankler Jr. of Glankler Brown PLLC. The seminar offers three hours of dual continuing legal education credit. The cost is $85 for MBA members and $95 for nonmembers. The American Law Institute-American Bar Association Committee on Continuing Professional Education is accepting nominations for the 1998 Francis Rawle Award for outstanding contributions to post-admission legal education. The award committee will review all nominations for service in post-admission legal education. The committee will look for contributions in the form of publications, lectures, or creation or administration of programs. Recent specific contributions, contributions over a period of time or career achievements will be considered. The committee also may confer Harrison Tweed Awards for Special Merit in Continuing Legal Education in recognition of contributions at the national, state or local level, or career achievements in advancing the education of the bar. Nominations should be received by March 6 at Rawle Award Committee, ALI-ABA, 4025 Chestnut St., Philadelphia, Pa. 19104-3099.
