Local architecture firm Self Tucker was awarded the corporation of the year award by the Black Business Association during its 1997 Annual Benny Awards on Thursday night at the Adams Mark Hotel. Local architecture firm Self Tucker was awarded the corporation of the year award by the Black Business Association during its 1997 Annual Benny Awards on Thursday night at the Adams Mark Hotel. The National Award for outstanding corporate professional went to Vicki Roman Palmer, vice president and treasurer of Coca Cola Enterprises Inc. in Atlanta. Other awards given during the event include:  Minority Business Development Award, Marshall Shanks of the Memphis/Shelby County Office of Planning and Development. Outstanding Media Coverage Award, The Daily News.  The Peoples Choice Award, First Presidential Alarm Service Inc., owned by Willie and Deborah Tunstall.  Anthony J. Cebrum Award for Corporate Community Involvement, Georgia Cannon of Union Planters National Bank.  Most Outstanding Professional Service Award, Deloris Burrow State Farm Insurance, owned by Deloris J. Burrow.  Most Outstanding Service Industry Award, Leroy Hanna, owner of Hanna and Associates.  Most Outstanding Minority Contractor, Clayton Roofing and Repairs Inc., owned by Larry Moody.  Most Outstanding Professional Award, Memphis Health Center, Allen Ball.  Most Outstanding Woman-Owned Business Award, Henleys Florist, owned by Carolyn Holmes.  Most Outstanding New Business Award, Personnel Plus Inc., owned by James Richardson Jr. Special presentations also were made to individuals and companies for Black Business Association Involvement. They include: Roby Williams, UPN30; Leroy Hanna, Hanna & Associates; and Robert Hetherington, The Commercial Appeal.
