Jay H. Lindy and Jennifer W. Sammons were named owners in the Waring Cox law firm. Lindy practices in securities, corporate and health care law. Sammons specializes in employment, business and general civil litigation. Lindy has a bachelors degree from Cornell University and a law degree from the University of Denver. Sammons received both bachelors and law degrees from the University of Memphis. Lindy serves on the board of directors for the Goodwill Boys Club of Memphis, the Mid-South chapter of the Alzheimers Association and the Cornell Club of the Mid South. Sammons is on the board of directors of the Memphis Zoo, the Tennessee Justice Center and the Association for Women Attorneys.
On Feb. 4, Robert C. Rosenbush of Millington received a public censure from the Board of Professional Responsibility of the Supreme Court of Tennessee. Rosenbush was given notice of the censure and did not request a hearing. In the first complaint, Rosenbush accepted $500 to file a petition but failed to file the petition and failed to advise his clients that he believed such a petition would be ineffective. In the second complaint, Rosenbush made sexually offensive statements to a client and failed to respond to Disciplinary Counsels request for information regarding the complaint.
The Memphis/Mid-South chapter of the Federal Bar Association and the U.S. District Court for the Western District of Tennessee are sponsoring a continuing education seminar on Feb. 28 from 1 p.m. to 5 p.m. at the U.S. District Courthouse. The seminar, "Practical Tips for Criminal Practitioners in the U.S. District Court for the Western District of Tennessee," is part of a series on federal practice. Speakers include Chief Judge Julia S. Gibbons, John Fowlkes, Steve Shankman, Larry Laurenzi, Kemper Durand and Doris Randall-Holt. The cost is $30 for FBA members and $35 for nonmembers. James F. Russell will be sworn in as Circuit Court Judge, Division IX, in the auditorium of the Criminal Justice Center on Monday at 9:00 a.m. The public is welcome to attend.
