The Public Relations Society of America will present its Communicator of the Year Award Jan. 8 at a luncheon at 11:45 a.m. in the Fogelman Executive Center at the University of Memphis. The award is presented to a member of the Memphis community who exhibits the ability to communicate effectively to general and/or specific audiences. The cost is $25 for guests. For reservations, call Toni Boland at 757-6393 by Jan. 3.
The Memphis Advertising Federation, together with the Ladies of St. Jude, is producing boxes of all occasion greeting cards designed by Memphis artists to raise money to establish a St. Jude Childrens Research Hospital Toy Fund. The artists are Mary Sims, Pat Patterson, Valerie Berlin, Jeane Umbreit, Eddie Tucker, Freida Hamm, Nancy Cheairs and Dolph Smith. St. Jude has an ongoing need for toys because it gives its patients gifts following each of their treatments. The MAF has taken on this toy drive as its major community involvement project for 1997. The sale will take place in January and February.
