Henry T. V. Miller has become a Fellow of the American College of Trial Lawyers. Created in 1950 to recognize excellence in trial lawyers, the college includes members from every segment of the civil and criminal trial bar of the United States and Canada. Miller was inducted in March during the spring meeting of the college in Tucson, Ariz. Miller is a partner in the firm of McDonald Kuhn and has been practicing in Memphis for 37 years. He is an alumnus of the University of Tennessee School of Law.
Greater Memphis Legal Assistants will sponsor a seminar on Friday from 1 p.m. to 5 p.m. at the Fogelman Executive Center at the University of Memphis. Topics will include: effective communication in the law office, discovery and the role of the legal assistant, and analyzing medical records. The cost is $30 and $15 for students. The Memphis Legal Secretaries Association will host the 1996 Convention and Board of Governors meeting of the Tennessee Association of Legal Secretaries at the Memphis Marriott on April 26-28. Activities will begin on April 26 at 1 p.m. with a four-hour mini-seminar which will include topics such as ethics and employment law. The cost of the seminar is $25 for members and $35 for nonmembers. For more information, call Deneise Kisner at 579-2274. Activities continue with a reception hosted by the Memphis chapter on April 26. The official annual business meeting of the state association will convene on April 27 at 8:30 a.m. and conclude with a banquet that evening.
The Memphis Bar Association will present a seminar on the Fair Debt Collection Practices Act on Wednesday at noon at the Peabody Hotel. The seminar offers one hour of continuing education credit. Registration before Monday is $25 for MBA members and $30 for nonmembers.
