Enterprise National Bank announced several promotions:
Deborah Gifford was promoted to a vice president at Enterprise. Gifford has been employed by company since its inception in 1990 and manages the retail banking division.
Judy Magri was promoted to assistant vice president and will serve as support specialist to the operations group at Enterprise National Bank. Magri has been with Enterprise for six years.
Cathy Boice was promoted to assistant vice president and will serve as system specialist for the operating group at Enterprise. She has been employed with the company for three years.
Mark Koskiniemi has been named vice president of human resources at Buckman Laboratories. Koskiniemi joined the company in 1986 as an area representative in the coatings and plastic division and later served as laboratory manager and product development manager. He has a bachelors degree in chemical engineering from the University of Delaware.
Gary Scruggs, chief transportation engineer at Pickering Inc., has been named the companys newest principal owner. He has been with Pickering since 1980. He has a bachelors degree in civil engineering and a masters degree specializing in transportation from the University of Memphis.
Pickering Firm Inc. has also announced the following new employees:
Michael J. Walker has joined the firm as a project architect. Walker has more than 10 years experience in project design for medical, educational and industrial projects. He has a masters of architecture degree from Clemson University.
Clete Blankenship has joined Pickering as a civil engineer. He has a bachelors degree in civil engineering from the University of Memphis and also bachelors degrees in biology and chemistry from the University of Alabama.
J. Adam Mahoney has joined the firm as a civil engineer. He has a bachelors degree in civil engineering from the University of Memphis.
Martha T. DeLuca has joined Pickering as an administrative assistant. She has more than 15 years experience and has been a certified professional secretary since 1989.
Uttam Shah has joined the firm as an intern architect. He has a bachelors degree in architectural technology and management from the New York Institute of Technology.
Lynn Upchurch has joined Pickering as an intern landscape architect. She has a bachelors degree in landscape architecture from Auburn University.
The Memphis Area Chamber of Commerce has announced the following promotions:
Patricia Guy was promoted from senior administrative assistant to project manager.
Larry Henson was promoted from associate manager of economic development to research director.
Allen Hester was promoted from communications manager to communications director.
Paul Latture was promoted from associate manager of membership services to director of membership services.
Minor Perkins will become the president of RFS Hotel Investors Inc. effective April 8. Robert M. Solmson, who previously served as president, will continue as chairman and chief executive officer. Perkins joins RFSI from Morgan Keegan & Co. Inc., where he was managing director and co-director of its investment banking department.
Steve Porter has been promoted to the newly created position of vice president of operations for Promus Hotel Corp.s 78 owned and managed Embassy Suites hotels. He formerly was vice president of marketing for Embassy Suites. Porter has a bachelor of science from Miami University and a masters of business administration from Xavier University.
G. Gregory Voehringer has been appointed associate counsel, Arkansas-Tennessee, for First American Title Insurance Co. Voehringer received his bachelors and law degrees from the University of Memphis. He formerly was in private practice with Huggins and Associates and Crislip, Phillip and Associates.
Dr. Ronnie Priest has been named the 1996 recipient of the University of Memphis Martin Luther King Jr. Human Rights Award. Priest is an assistant professor in the counseling, educational psychology and research department. He has a doctorate in education from the University of Alabama and is coordinator of graduate programs for the universitys community agency counseling program.
Karl Birkholz is the chairman of the Memphis Food Banks 1996 board of directors. He retired from FedEx and is currently consulting for Freds Inc. Vice chairman is community volunteer Olivia Bruce; treasurer is Phil Shannon, a partner at KPMG Peat Marwick; and secretary is James McWillie, a retired businessman and former board chairman of Memphis Light, Gas & Water. New board members include Daniel Antonelli, Marsha Cameron, Carolyn Hardy, Rick James, Rick Lowry, Creager Simpson and William L. Taylor.
Five University of Tennessee-Memphis faculty members were among American Health magazines 1,019 Best Doctors in America: Dr. William Applegate, professor and chair of preventive medicine; Dr. Walter Hughes, professor of pediatrics; Dr. Fred Barrett, professor of pediatrics; Dr. Larry Kun, professor and acting chair of radiation oncology; and Dr. Thom Lobe, professor of surgery.
Ronald W. Stimpson, president and chief executive officer of Leader Federal Bank, has been appointed to the Thrift Institutions Advisory Council, a 12-member group created by the Federal Reserve Board.
Irene Parker is now associated with The Appraisal Network/John Jordan Appraisal Co. She has been a local appraiser since 1982.
Cliff Myers has been named the public relations and publicity manager for Sams Town Hotel & Gambling Hall. He previously was tour and travel motorcoach sales manager.
Edward Smith Jr. has joined the Memphis Food Bank as its agency relations director. He is a graduate of Jackson State University and spent 12 years in the U.S. Army as a commissioned officer.
Morton C. Gorden has joined Kelman-Lazarov Inc. He formerly owned and operated three small businesses in Memphis and North Mississippi. He has a bachelors degree in business from the University of Memphis.
Dr. Robert L. Summitt, dean of the College of Medicine at the University of Tennessee-Memphis, has been named the 1996 Pediatrician of the Year by the Tennessee chapter of the American Academy of Pediatrics and the Tennessee Pediatric Society.
