The 80-plus-year-old institution announced in October it would be shuttering its doors for good in May 2020. Proceeds from the sale of MCA's real estate will create a reserve fund for the teach-out of the current students and retire the college’s real estate debt, according to MCA president Laura Hine.

10. UCLA’s Prolific QB Rosen Will Test Tigers D -

In Week 1, UCLA quarterback Josh Rosen rallied his team from 34 points down to defeat Texas A&M 45-44. It was the second-largest comeback win in FBS history.

Last week in the Bruins’ 56-23 victory over Hawaii, Rosen hit on 22 of 25 passes for 359 yards and five touchdowns. Excluding a one-play drive before halftime, UCLA scored on its first seven offensive possessions.

12. Developers Baking $73 Million Deal at Wonder Bread Plant -

A development group wants to breathe new life into the former Wonder Bread plant that used to fill the Memphis Medical District with the smell of fresh bread before it closed in 2013.

A group of investors spearheaded by Chisca Hotel Developers – Development Services Group – has submitted a $73 million plan to create 286 upscale multifamily units, a 480-space parking garage and 150,000 square feet of office and retail space.

13. Wonder Bread Factory Rebirth Eyed by Chisca Hotel Developer -

A new plan submitted to city officials would breathe new life into the former Wonder Bread factory that used to fill the Memphis Medical District with the smell of fresh bread before it closed in 2013.

14. Final Goodbye: Roll Call of Some of Those Who Died in 2016 -

Death claimed transcendent political figures in 2016, including Cuba's revolutionary leader and Thailand's longtime king, but also took away royals of a different sort: kings of pop music, from Prince and David Bowie to George Michael.

23. Federal Agency Moving to Brinkley Plaza -

A federal agency is moving to the Brinkley Plaza office building Downtown in the first quarter of 2016.

The Memphis field office of the United States Citizenship and Immigration Services will be taking up the seventh floor in the Downtown Class B building.

A charter school operator has inked a lease for space on Winchester Road in Hickory Hill.

49. Delta Air Lines Buys Pennsylvania Refinery -

Delta Air Lines has bought on oil refinery near Philadelphia in a $150 million deal that the airline with a Memphis hub said should help stabilize the price of jet fuel that airline executives have cited as a major factor in its fare hikes and cuts in capacity.

50. Delta Subsidiary to Buy Pa. Refinery -

Delta Air Lines announced Monday, April 30, that its Monroe Energy LLC subsidiary has an agreement to buy the Trainer oil refinery south of Philadelphia from Phillips 66 for a $150 million investment.

51. Loeb Renews Leases for Two Upscale Restaurants -

Two local restaurateurs and tenants of Loeb Properties Inc. have renewed leases.

Bill Latham, owner of Interim Restaurant, has renewed his lease for 4,957 square feet at Sanderlin Place, 5040 Sanderlin Ave. Carey White, Loeb senior vice president of asset management, brokered the deal.

As a third-generation riverboat pilot, William Lozier understands constancy as intrinsically as he does the wild channels of the Mississippi River.

His grandfather built the majority of the Memphis riverboat fleet. His uncle, stepfather and mother ran it at one point.

Evolve Digital Media has more than doubled its Memphis location at Apple Tree Center in Hickory Hill.
