Details: Seattle, Washington-based sporting and camping goods retailer REI has filed a $900,000 building permit application for tenant improvement in the former Sports Authority building at 5895 Poplar Ave. in the Ridgeway Trace shopping center.

3. Hilton Renovating Memphis Offices -

Hilton Worldwide has filed a multimillion-dollar building permit application to renovate a portion of its Memphis operations center.

The Virginia-based company is planning a roughly $2.7 million renovation of Building C of its 755 Crossover Lane campus, according to the application filed with construction code officials.

4. Hilton Cuts 101 in Memphis -

Hilton Worldwide is cutting 101 positions at its Memphis operations and commercial service centers, located at 755 Crossover Lane and 3180 Players Lane.

5. UPDATE: Hilton, Louis Vuitton Plan Memphis Layoffs -

Two worldwide companies with Memphis operations plan to lay off a total of 87 workers in Shelby County starting at the end of September.

The North American division of Louis Vuitton plans to lay off 51 workers at the ELX Distribution facility at 5900 East Holmes Road in Hickory Hill between Oct. 15 and Dec. 31, according to a notice filed with the Tennessee Department of Labor and Workforce Development.

6. Hilton Italian Car Show To Benefit Habitat -

The Ninth Annual Hilton Worldwide Exotic Italian Car Show benefiting Habitat for Humanity of Greater Memphis will be held June 20 from 11 a.m. to 4 p.m. at the Hilton Worldwide, 755 Crossover Lane.

7. Memphis Loans Part of Bear Stearns Rescue -

The Federal Reserve bought a piece of commercial loans that financed a handful of properties in Memphis when the central bank swallowed billions of dollars’ worth of new assets during its 2008 rescue of Bear Stearns.

FedEx Corp earned the No. 12 spot, Hilton Hotels Corp. placed at No. 16 and Harrah's Entertainment Inc. was No. 22.
