1. Music Lounge to Open in Edge District -

The Edge District near Downtown lost a theater but is gaining a new live music lounge in August.

The Dizzy Bird, named after legendary Jazz greats John “Dizzy” Gillespie and Charlie “Bird” Parker, is slated to open Aug. 2 at 652 Marshall Ave.

The Memphis Bar Association will hold "Social Security Disability: A Primer" today from 11:45 a.m. to 1 p.m. in the MBA Conference Room, 80 Monroe Ave., Suite 220. The seminar offers one hour of continuing legal education credit. For cost and registration information, call the MBA at 527-3573.

The Alliance for Nonprofit Excellence will hold its "Alliance Member Orientation" workshop today from 9 a.m. to 10:30 a.m. at its offices, 606 S. Mendenhall Road, Suite 108.
