3. Week Ahead: May 14-20 -

Go hog wild, Memphis! One of the most anticipated community events of the year kicks off this week when Tom Lee Park again becomes ground zero for the Memphis in May World Championship Barbecue Cooking Contest. Teams from around the world will try to win over judges with their savory renditions of all things pig. It will be a lip-smackin’ good time win or lose, though.

5. Motor Museum Slated For Edge District -

A new nonprofit museum geared toward automotive history and preservation could be coming to the Memphis Medical District.

Located at 645 Marshall Ave., The Edge Motor Museum is a part of a $1.4 million renovation project Richard Vining is planning in the Edge neighborhood bordering the Medical District. Vining also owns Vining Legacy Management, a bill pay service specializing in assisting seniors and widows.

8. St. Blues Open House Slated for Tuesday -

St. Blues Guitar Workshop is holding an open house Tuesday, Aug. 16, to show off its new guitar line and redesigned workshop.

The beginning of the year marked a milestone for the organization, when it decided to sell only locally made guitars. St. Blues Guitar had been building its workshop line in Nashville for several years and opted to move production to Memphis in an effort to return to the brand’s roots and history.

9. Moving Forward -

As the commercial real estate market remained soft in 2010, a handful of major deals – including some to close the year – indicated light at the end of the tunnel.

The year ended with the top retail investment sale of the year when Loeb Properties Inc. bought Park Place Centre from Belz Enterprises Inc. for $10.3 million.

10. St. Blues Guitar Seeking CCDC Incentives -

Legendary Gear LLC is planning to open a retail store at 645 Marshall Ave. in the Downtown neighborhood known as The Edge.
