The inaugural Women in Law and Leadership Conference Oct. 13 will feature speakers and discussions on business development leadership and management.

The conference, hosted by the Association for Women Attorneys, is from 9:30 a.m. to 5:30 p.m. at Baptist Memorial Hospital for Women, 6225 Humphreys Blvd.

7. Foundation Supports New Services to Help Parents -

The ACE Awareness Foundation in Memphis is funding what’s become a growing suite of support services for parents in Memphis, everything from a newly launched telephone support line that puts parents in touch with licensed social workers and counselors to Universal Parenting Places.

8. Sekisui, Circa to Relocate Spaces -

Two East Memphis restaurants soon will have new addresses. 

Sekisui is moving from its original location in the Shops of Humphreys Center, 50 Humphreys Blvd., into Circa by John Bragg’s space in Regalia Shopping Center at 6150 Poplar Ave., suite 122. Circa plans to relocate west to Chickasaw Crossing, 2855 Poplar, in the space where Ronnie Grisanti’s restaurant operated for years.

9. A Century of Health Care -

Memphians packed the new Dr. H. Edward Garrett Auditorium at Baptist Memorial Hospital-Memphis last month to listen to music icon Patti LaBelle discuss her struggle with diabetes and the grief she experienced after losing three sisters to cancer.

10. Birthing Tradition -

When expectant mother Aimee McMillan toured the Baptist Memorial Hospital for Women in 2002, she and her husband jokingly referred to the then-new facility as the “Mommy Marriott.”

The Memphis Lawyers’ Chapter and University of Memphis Law Student Chapter of the Federalist Society will present a panel discussion on attorney general selection in Tennessee Friday from 11:30 a.m. to 12:45 p.m. in Wade Auditorium at the Cecil C.
