1. EDGE Approves Trio of Tax Abatements -

The Economic Development Growth Engine for Memphis and Shelby County approved a trio of tax abatement packages during its Wednesday April 18 meeting.

Massachusetts-based Franklin Sports Inc. was awarded a six-year Jobs PILOT to build a 250,000- to 300,000-square-foot warehouse adjacent to its Memphis distribution center at 5510 Getwell Road, adding 27 new jobs with an average salary of $39,722, excluding benefits.

Sports equipment manufacturer Franklin Sports Inc., pharmacy services provider Enclara Pharmacia Inc. and petroleum distributor OMO Energy & Technology Inc. will all make their cases for tax incentives when the Economic Development Growth Engine meets Wednesday, April 18.

For the 17th straight quarter, the Memphis area industrial market continued its positive absorption streak, as it wrapped up Q3 2017 with more than 800,000 square feet of positive net absorption, according to commercial real estate brokerage firm CBRE’s Memphis Industrial MarketView Report.

7. Kyocera Inks ProLogis Park Lease Renewal -

ProLogis has landed a major renewal at one of its industrial parks.

Kyocera Document Solutions America Inc., which manufactures and markets network-ready digital copiers and printers, laser printers, color copiers and printers, digital laser facsimiles and multifunctional, wide-format imaging products, has renewed its lease for 300,000 square feet at 5510 Getwell Road in Memphis.

8. Two Warehouse Expansions Get EDGE Tax Freezes -

The local Economic Development Growth Engine board approved two tax freeze benefits Wednesday, Aug. 15, to facilitate some warehouse expansions.

The EDGE board approved a three-year tax freeze for Stoughton, Mass.-based Franklin Sports, which is investing $550,000 here, adding 40 jobs and pursuing a 100,000-square-foot expansion of its local operations at 5510 Getwell Road. Franklin wants to expand the company to capitalize on the departure of a competitor from the market, and the addition of 40 new employees will take its local workforce to a total of 167.

9. Arlington Pet Hospital Files $1.2M Permit For Expansion -

Construction plans for a new stand-alone space for a growing Arlington veterinary clinic are under way near its current shopping center space.

Samuel Garrett Davis, founder of Arlington Pet Hospital PLLC, has filed a $1.2 million building permit application with the city-county Department of Construction Code Enforcement for a 5,200-square-foot facility, complete with hospital boarding and grooming capabilities.

10. Franklin Sports Extends Lease in ProLogis Park -

Franklin Sports Inc. has signed a four-year lease extension for its 300,000-square-foot industrial distribution warehouse in ProLogis Park Stateline, 5510 Getwell Road.
