3. New Restaurant, Venue Coming to Highland Strip -

The Bluff, a new music venue and restaurant, is headed to the Highland Strip.

The 5,952-square-foot space will include two downstairs bars, a large stage and green room, a 1,300-square-foot mezzanine with an additional bar, outdoor patio seating area adjacent to the stage and a second patio on the Highland Strip.

4. Del-Nat Sells Warehouse, Newby’s Makes A Comeback -

Del-Nat Tire Co. has unloaded a 500,000-square-foot warehouse in Southwest Memphis.

Sunhill Holdings LLC acquired the warehouse at 2365 Texas Drive for $6 million from Del-Nat Realty.

5. Buster's Boom: Popular Liquor and Wine Store Expanding -

Buster’s Liquors & Wines is expanding its footprint. The popular wine and liquor store near the University of Memphis is taking over the space occupied by La Hacienda Mexican Restaurant in the University Center retail development at Poplar Avenue and Highland Street.

6. Loeb Properties Bullish on Center City Development -

When Loeb Properties Inc. acquired the warehouse at 2542 Broad Ave. in 1995, Aaron Petree, the company’s current vice president of brokerage, was just starting high school.

In addition to its recent purchase of the former Newby’s bar and restaurant space, an affiliate of Memphis-based Loeb Properties has acquired another key Highland Strip property for $500,000.

9. Loeb Pays $450,000 for Newby’s Property -

Memphis-based Loeb Properties paid $450,000 to acquire the Newby’s property on the Highland Strip near the University of Memphis.

Highland University District LLC, an affiliate of Memphis-based Loeb Properties, acquired 535 and 539 S. Highland St. from Paragon Bank, according to a Dec. 29 deed of trust.

12. Loeb Acquires Newby’s Restaurant Space -

Memphis-based Loeb Properties has acquired one of the most venerable locations on the Highland strip.

Loeb purchased the long-time home of club and restaurant Newby’s at 535 and 539 Highland St. from Paragon Bank. A purchase price was not disclosed Friday, Jan. 2.

Visible Music College will hold a ribbon-cutting ceremony and grand opening celebration Tuesday, Oct. 18, at 11 a.m. at its new Downtown campus, 200 Madison Ave. The celebration will include guest speakers, refreshments, tours of the new building and live music by students. 17. Tigers Ready to Pounce On UCLA, Final Four History -

When the University of Memphis Tigers play UCLA in the first semifinal game of Saturday's Final Four, it won't be the first meeting between the two schools. That came in 1973, when the Bruins defeated the Tigers 87-66 in the national championship game.
