The two parks where Confederate monuments were removed this past December will feature some new experiences now that spring is here both by the calendar and by all that flowers and clouds that are heavy with rain. Memphis City Council members have approved construction of a 400-room hotel on Lamar Avenue near Memphis International Airport.

24. National College Files Permit For Thousand Oaks Campus -

National College of Business and Technology is moving ahead with plans to build in East Memphis, where the trade and technical school will relocate its current Lamar Avenue campus.

In its latest move, National College/Corolla Management filed a $4.9 million building permit application with the city-county of Office of Construction Code Enforcement for the college’s planned two-story building at 2576 Thousand Oaks Cove, just off Interstate 240 and east of Perkins Road. Cincinnati-based JDL Warm Construction LLC is the general contractor for the project.

28. Relocated Campus Spotlights NCBT’s Growing Presence -

The National College of Business and Technology is in the very early stages of the planning process for its new brick-and-mortar campus in Memphis.

The private college – which is based in Roanoke, Va., and has locations in six states – plans to relocate its Lamar campus. The existing facility is nearing capacity (approximately 400 students), so NBCT will move to a larger, soon-to-be-constructed two-story building at 2576 Thousand Oaks Cove, just off Interstate 240 in East Memphis.

An up-and-coming Mid-South cheer and tumbling company has signed a new lease to expand its business, a move that will benefit the facility’s students and parents alike.

A San Jose, Calif.-based worldwide electronics distributor is entering the Memphis area with full force.

WPG Americas Inc. has signed a 54,000-square-foot lease at Airways Distribution Center, 481 Industrial Drive, in Southaven. The project – a relocation of the WPG America’s New York facility – represents a $1.5 million investment by the company and will create 60 jobs over the next three years.

Memphis Mayor A C Wharton Jr. is rolling out the latest tool his administration will use to clean up neglected and overgrown Memphis neighborhoods – attorneys.
