1. Frayser Bauhaus Draws Preview Crowd of 300 -

The investor developer of a Bauhaus-style home from the late 1940s in Frayser says the area is the “next frontier” in Memphis real estate.

“I’m super passionate about Frayser. When I came out here and saw the beautiful rolling hills, I’m like, ‘This is the next frontier,’” Dana Gabrion told a group of 300 people outside the house at 3590 Thomas St. at Floyd Avenue Thursday, July 12.

Memphis Heritage Inc. hosts a Preservation Posse: After Hours tour of the Frayser Bauhaus on Thursday, July 12, at 6:30 p.m. (doors and bar open 6 p.m. to 8 p.m.) at 3590 Thomas St. Stop by for a drink and barbecue, then learn about the restoration project from the experts making it happen. Tickets are $10 in advance or $15 at the door. Visit memphisheritage.org/ppah for details.

5. Tigers' WR Anthony Miller and LB Genard Avery Selected in NFL Draft -

Two former University of Memphis football players were selected in the 2018 NFL Draft and a third signed as a free agent.

Wide receiver Anthony Miller was drafted in the second round by the Chicago Bears at number 51 overall, and linebacker Genard Avery was taken in the fifth round, at number 150 overall, by the Cleveland Browns.

6. Frayser Bauhaus -

Memphis' best and most unique example of art deco-international style Bauhaus architecture has been hiding in plain sight in Frayser for nearly 70 years.

Tens of thousands of daily motorists drive past the white, multilevel building at 3590 Thomas St., on the northeast corner of Thomas and Floyd Avenue, where curved windows look out on the highway down the hill and large trees landscape the slope to the street.
