The owner of Senses nightclub, 2866 Poplar Ave., has upgraded the inside with new decor, lighting, sound systems and finishes. Owner Francisco Dasilva, doing business as C & R Events Enterprises LLC, purchased the club for $1.2 million and reopened it this spring only to learn its operation must get approval for a special use permit. A hearing on that permit application is expected in 60 to 90 days, but a judge has ruled Senses can remain open until then under certain conditions.

The shuttered Senses nightclub on Poplar Avenue is facing foreclosure after its owners, who had planned to resurrect the once-popular nightclub, defaulted on a $1.1 million loan.

C&R Events Enterprise LLC bought the former Senses property at 2866 Poplar Ave. from Mascom Properties for $1.2 million in May 2015. The purchase included the 14,700-square-foot warehouse that housed the nightclub as well as the adjacent 134-space parking lot.

C & R Events Enterprise LLC, owned by Francisco Dasilva, has applied for a special-use permit to revive the club at 2866 Poplar Ave. The application, filed with the Office of Planning & Development on Oct. 19, calls for a “restaurant with alcohol sales.”
