Opera Memphis will perform Gilbert & Sullivan’s family classic “The Pirates of Penzance” Friday through Sunday, Feb. 17-19, at Germantown Performing Arts Center, 1801 Exeter Road. In conjunction with the show, Opera Memphis and the Mid-South Buccaneers are hosting Pirate Fest – an afternoon of pirate games, art activities, stories and live music from the Bluff City Barnacles – Saturday from 2 p.m. to 5 p.m. at GPAC. 6. Music City Christmas -

In years past, Carl Haley has offered his Grand Avenue transportation passengers the customary Christmas lights tour packages – about the same as other tours in Nashville – with a cruise by Opryland and a trip to a few choice, heavily decorated neighborhoods.

7. Property Tax Clinic Scheduled for Saturday -

The fifth of six scheduled tax clinics, sponsored by Memphis City Council member Lee Harris and the law firm of Linebarger Goggan Blair & Sampson LLP, will be held Oct. 13.

The Memphis Rotary Club will meet Friday at noon at the Chickasaw Country Club, 3395 Galloway Ave. Dr. Jan Young, executive director of the Assisi Foundation, will be the featured speaker. Cost is $25 for guests. Reservations are not needed.

The University of Memphis School of Audiology and Speech-Language Pathology will host the Elizabeth J. Webster Visiting Scholar Institute Thursday from 9 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. in the auditorium of the Memphis Speech and Hearing Center, 807 Jefferson Ave. The seminar is free but reservations are required. The Memphis Music Resource Center will celebrate its first birthday during the South Main Art Trolley Tour today from 6 p.m. to 10 p.m. at 431 S. Main St. The free celebration will include live music, food and drinks.

Walt Schuler and Morris Landau will present a continuing education seminar titled “Medical Records Law: HIPAA Changes are Coming” today from 9 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. at the DoubleTree Hotel, 5069 Sanderlin Ave. The seminar will focus on helping health care providers avoid costly investigations by federal and state authorities and to avoid lawsuits and bad publicity by maintaining the privacy and security of patients’ health. A town hall discussion has been planned for next week at the Orange Mound Community Services Center gymnasium to educate voters on changes to the city and county charters that will show up on the Nov. 4 ballot.
