Memphis Botanic Garden continues its 2017 Vine to Wine wine-tasting series with “Reds, Whites, and Blues” Tuesday, June 27, from 6 p.m. to 8 p.m. at MBG, 750 Cherry Road. Hello, Memphis! The start of the fiscal year comes this week for local governments, but the county commission still has some work to do. A few other important government meetings are slated this week, as is some fun – Boston is in concert Saturday night at Live at the Garden.

Memphis Branch NAACP will host its Centennial Freedom Fund Luncheon on Saturday, June 24, at 11:30 a.m. at the Memphis Hilton, 939 Ridge Lake Blvd. Wake Forest University professor Melissa Harris-Perry and former U.S. Rep. Harold Ford Jr. are the guest speakers at the luncheon, themed “Reflecting on the Past, Remaining Focused on the Future: 100 Years of Civil Rights and Human Rights Advocacy.” Tickets start at $100. 9. More Ideas for Holiday Givebacks -

Last week we spotlighted The Exchange Club Family Center, which is an organization focused on helping families and breaking the cycle of child abuse and neglect. Before we announce the topic for this week’s column, let us thank the hundreds of volunteers that came out on Saturday, Nov. 17, for the McKellar Lake Cleanup. More than 5,000 pounds of trash was removed from the area with 2,750 pounds being recycled. Now it is time to explore a few ways we can give back using holiday cards, honorariums and unwrapped toys.

10. Former Mazda Warehouse Sells for $13.5M -

The former Mazda North America Inc. distribution center in DeSoto County has been acquired by Hillwood Investment Properties for $13.5 million.

11. JLS Enterprises Buys SE Market Warehouse -

A 51,000-square-foot industrial building in the Southeast submarket has traded hands. JLS Enterprises LLC purchased 4021 Delp St. in Airport Industrial Park for $850,000. The warehouse currently houses Coca-Cola Enterprises Inc. and is 100 percent occupied.

12. Early Voting Barely Eclipses 3 Percent -

Votes approached the 13,000 mark through the last weekend of the early voting period in advance of the March 8 Election Day for the schools consolidation referendum.

Early voting across the city in the referendum and a one-candidate special election race for District 98 state representative ends Thursday evening.

13. Schools Consolidation Early Voting Tops 2K -

Early voting in advance of the March 8 election day topped 2,000 through Saturday – 2,161 to be exact.

Both sides of the schools consolidation question on the ballot worked to rally voters over the weekend as early voting expanded Saturday to sites across the city.

14. Memphis Habitat to Hold Educational Events -

Habitat for Humanity of Greater Memphis will host three events designed to educate potential partner organizations and the general public about Habitat’s work in Memphis.

Memphis Habitat will hold Habitours Saturday and Nov. 6.

15. Kent H. Landsberg Co. Doubles Space -

Kent H. Landsberg Co. has finally inked a deal that had been in the works for quite some time.

Landsberg, a packaging, janitorial and food service shipping supply company, stayed in Memphis and expanded when it purchased Wurzburg Inc., a Memphis-based provider of supply-chain logistics and packaging.
