2012: Loeb Properties Inc. of Memphis closed on its $7 million acquisition of eight acres of the Overton Square entertainment district from Denver-based Overton Square Investors LLC.

2. McLean-Union Walgreens Sold for $5.2 Million -

A Midtown Walgreens changed hands for $5.2 million, according to an Oct. 9 warranty deed. Tennessee-based RMRTN LLC sold the pharmacy at 1863 Union Ave., on the southeast corner of McLean Boulevard, to Delaware-based Pharmacy Portfolio VIII DST.

5. This Week in Memphis History: February 13-19 -

2005: Molson Coors Brewing Co. announced it would close its Memphis brewery in Hickory Hill in 2007 as a result of the Canadian company’s merger with Adolph Coors Co. of Colorado. At the time, the brewery and bottling plant employed 410 people. The phase-out was to begin in the second half of 2005. Today the brewery is known as Blues City Brewery, a part of City Brewing of Latrobe, Wis., producing beers and other beverages under numerous brand names.

Stax Museum of American Soul Music will host Stephani Brownlee’s CD release party Tuesday, Aug. 19, at 2 p.m. in Studio A, 926 E. McLemore Ave. Museum admission is free to Shelby County residents with ID. Visit staxmuseum.com.

8. Fresh Market Eyes Union Avenue Ike's -

By this time next year, Midtown residents could be shopping at a new Fresh Market grocery store.

The upscale grocery chain is eyeing the Union Avenue Ike's, which a Walgreen Co. representative confirmed will be shuttered.

9. State Library Now has New Civil War Letters -

NASHVILLE (AP) – For the first time, the Tennessee State Library and Archives in Nashville has a collection of letters from white officers who led black troops during the Civil War.

The collection is "Brother Charles: Letters Home to Michigan," correspondence of the Wadsworth Brothers. It is writings by two white members of the 16th U.S. Colored Infantry, which was encamped in Clarksville from 1863 to 1865.

10. Two Take Care Clinics Open in Area Walgreens -

Two more Take Care Clinics have opened in the Memphis area, bringing the number in the area to four.

Take Care Clinics are staffed by board-certified family nurse practitioners who treat patients 18 months and older for common illnesses such as strep throat, ear and sinus infections, and pink eye.
