2. Minglewood Plaza Sells for $2.7 Million -

The plaza that houses the popular Minglewood Hall, as well as six other businesses including 1884 Lounge and Inked, has sold.

Tollie J Roberts IV and Richard H.L. Roberts, trustees of the Steve M. Roberts Testamentary Trust, purchased the property located at 1553 Madison Ave. in Midtown on Oct. 9 for $2.7 million.

3. Old BellSouth Building to be Demolished -

The multistory building at 1544 Madison Ave. in Midtown once occupied by BellSouth is being demolished by city order.

4. From Myth to Reality -

"If you're ever in Memphis, better stop by Minglewood," says the blues song "New Minglewood Blues," written by Noah Lewis and performed by Cannon's Jug Stompers in the 1930s.

Years later, the Grateful Dead began covering the song and in many ways made it their own. They added verses, rearranged the music and renamed it "New New Minglewood Blues," spreading word of the song's mysterious locale to a new generation.
