4. UTHSC to Raise Funds for Cancer Awareness -

The University of Tennessee Health Science Center will launch its inaugural Cancer Awareness Day Tuesday, March 6, with a fundraising drive.

Researchers will collect donations from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. in the General Education Building lobby, 8 S. Dunlap St. and outside the UTHSC bookstore in the Madison Plaza lobby, 910 Madison Ave.

5. Ambitious Growth on Tap For Med Communications -

Pharmaceutical consulting firm Med Communications Inc. is expanding its presence in Memphis, with plans to soon move into a larger office space to accommodate anticipated growth over the next several years.

The Lipscomb & Pitts Breakfast Club will hold a happy hour mixer Friday from 4 p.m. to 6 p.m. at Napa Cafe, 5101 Sanderlin Ave., suite 122. No reservations are required.

7. Steady Clip for Court Cases in ’09 -

Civil court filings for 2009 were higher than the previous two years, according to data from The Daily News Online.

The year-end data for Circuit, Chancery and Probate courts showed 10,794 cases were filed in 2009 compared to 9,766 in 2008 and 10,045 in 2007.

The University of Tennessee Health Science Center today will hold a dedication ceremony honoring Baptist Memorial Health Care Corp. for its gift of three buildings: 910, 920 and 930 Madison Ave. The ceremony begins at 10 a.m. in the Freeman Auditorium at the Hamilton Eye Institute, 930 Madison Ave.
