1. RKA Construction Preps for New Home -

For the past eight years, RKA Construction has made a name for itself in the high-end custom home arena, handling everything from small renovations and additions to large, new homes. To accommodate a need for more operational space, RKA recently purchased a 4,000-square-foot building at 81 Tillman St. to serve as its new office, and renovations are underway.

2. RKA Construction Buys Building for New Office -

RKA Construction has purchased a 4,000-square-foot building just off the Poplar corridor on Tillman Street, allowing the Memphis-based firm to quadruple its office space.

RKA, which specializes in custom residential work ranging from small additions and renovations to large, new construction projects, bought the building at 81 Tillman from Bauray LLC in January for $260,000.

4. ‘The Rat’ at Rhodes Gets Makeover -

Rhodes College has filed an $11 million permit with the city-county Office of Construction Code Enforcement to expand and renovate its main dining hall facility.

Known by students as “The Rat,” Catherine Burrow Refectory opened in 1958 and has three dining areas – Neely Hall, Hyde Hall and Rollow Hall. Smaller meeting rooms include the Alburty Room, the Davis Room and the Bell Room.
