Seven RadioShack stores in the Memphis area are among the 1,784 retail sites the company plans to close, according to court documents related to its bankruptcy filing in early February.
The Shelby County stores to close between Feb. 17 and March 31, according to the list, are in Wolfchase Galleria, 2760 N. Germantown Parkway; Trinity Commons, 714 Germantown Parkway; the Collierville store, 694 W. Poplar Ave.; Whitehaven Plaza, 4082 Elvis Presley Blvd.; Bartlett Towne Center, 6045 Stage Road; and Polo Shops, 7464 Winchester Road. The store in Holiday Plaza Mall in West Memphis is also slated to close.

The little Memphis pizzeria that could will soon be opening a new location in Jackson, Tenn.
The Rock’n Dough Pizza Co., owned by Jeremy and Amanda Denno, is slated to open a new restaurant and microbrewery at the Jackson Walk development in Jackson in October. The Dennos will team up with veteran local brewer Ben Pugh to create signature suds at the 4,100-square-foot restaurant.

‘The Rat’ at Rhodes Gets Makeover -

Rhodes College has filed an $11 million permit with the city-county Office of Construction Code Enforcement to expand and renovate its main dining hall facility.
Known by students as “The Rat,” Catherine Burrow Refectory opened in 1958 and has three dining areas – Neely Hall, Hyde Hall and Rollow Hall. Smaller meeting rooms include the Alburty Room, the Davis Room and the Bell Room.

Panera Bread to Open Cafe on G’Town Parkway -

Richmond Heights, Mo.-based Panera Bread has announced plans to open its first Memphis-area bakery/cafe at 714 N. Germantown Parkway in the Trinity Commons Shopping Center.
This will be the first of 12 cafes slated to open in the Memphis, West Tennessee and North Mississippi regions. Three cafes are scheduled for 2009 opening dates.
