45. Baptist to Hold Conference Center Groundbreaking Ceremony -

Officials at Baptist Memorial Hospital Memphis will hold a groundbreaking ceremony Tuesday for a $6.9 million project that will bring a conference center to the campus.

The conference center will include an auditorium named in honor of the late Dr. H. Edward Garrett Sr., a surgeon who performed the world’s first successful heart bypass surgery in 1964, three years before he joined the staff of the Memphis hospital.
