4. Graceland Hotel Passes Crucial Hurdle -

A new hotel near Graceland has passed a key regulatory hurdle.

The Memphis-Shelby County Land Use Control Board approved a proposal from Elvis Presley Enterprises to build a 450-room hotel on the same side of Elvis Presley Boulevard as the historic Graceland mansion, one of the city’s top tourism sites.

5. Graceland Hotel First Sign of Expansion Plans -

It’s been several years since executives at Elvis Presley Enterprises took an expansion plan to homeowners in Whitehaven.

The last time was when the entertainment company CKx Inc. owned 85 percent of Graceland and rolled out a $250 million plan to expand the area around Graceland into a resort setting with more hotels, restaurants and entertainment venues.

6. Graceland Files Notice for 450-Room Whitehaven Hotel -

Elvis Presley Enterprises has filed paperwork with the Land Use Control Board to move ahead with the first part of a long planned expansion of Graceland.

The filing with the LUCB Wednesday, April 30, is for construction of a 450-room hotel on the same side of Elvis Presley Boulevard as the mansion on a parcel of land EPE has owned since the mid 1990s.

7. EPE Files Permit for Studio Near Graceland -

Elvis Presley Enterprises has filed a $670,000 permit application with the city-county Office of Construction Code Enforcement to build a new studio building on land north of Graceland.

The permit, which lists Flintco Inc. as the general contractor, comes about four months after New York-based Authentic Brands Group – the company that owns Elvis Presley’s intellectual property and the rights to operate Graceland – announced plans for upgrades around the mansion.
