A representative with Toys R Us has confirmed to The Daily News that the retailer’s Memphis location, at 7676 Polo Ground Blvd., won’t close after all.

2. Study Confirms Flu Increases Risk of Heart Attack in Elderly -

NEW YORK (AP) – As if the flu wasn't bad enough already: Researchers have confirmed that flu sharply increases the risk of heart attack for older people.

Doctors have long known that flu can trigger heart problems. It's one of the reasons flu shots are recommended for nearly everyone.

3. Silver Lining -

Fueled by a steep drop in bank sales, Shelby County home sales slowed slightly in the third quarter compared to the same three-month period in 2013.

There were a total of 486 bank sales in the quarter, as opposed to 752 in the same period last year, a decrease of 35 percent, according to real estate information company Chandler Reports, www.chandlerreports.com.

5. Texas Investment Co. Buys Three Parking Lots -

A Dallas-based company called TTOW Properties LLC has acquired a Memphis parking lot portfolio from CPC Realty LLC for a combined $1.5 million in special warranty deeds that also included quitclaim transfers. The portfolio comprised parking lots at 201 Adams Ave., 243 Exchange Ave. and 332 N. Main St.

The Exchange Club Family Center is accepting registration through Friday for mentors for a 12-week youth mentoring program. The program is designed to enhance the organization's Comprehensive Anger Management Program (CAMP), which presents a life skills model for teens and parents.
