1. DIY Pizza Craze -

For decades the “Big Three” – Domino’s, Pizza Hut and Papa John’s – have dominated the pizza industry, but the fast-casual dining concept is changing that.

And one of the new players disrupting the industry is PizzaRev, a fast-casual pizza restaurant with three locations in Memphis.

PizzaRev Taproom will host a “pay-what-you-want” fundraiser benefiting Humane Society of Memphis & Shelby County Wednesday, Sept. 27, from 5 p.m. to 10 p.m. at PizzaRev’s new Wolfchase-area location, 2825 N. Germantown Parkway. Guests are invited to pay what they want for their first custom-built, personal-sized pizza, with all proceeds going to the humane society.

F.A.C.E.S. of Memphis and Emotional Fitness Centers of Tennessee will host a free lunch-and-learn session Tuesday, Sept. 26, from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. in the Healing Center cafeteria, 3885 Tchulahoma Road. The Greater Memphis Chamber will hold the 2017 Move It Memphis 4-Mile Race Thursday, Sept. 28, at 6:30 p.m. starting and ending at Loflin Yard, 7 W. Carolina Ave. New this year is a Memphis Spirit Contest, a costume contest where runners can show their Memphis spirit and be judged for their creativity. Cost is $30 in advance or $35 on race day. Brixmor Property Group is preparing to construct a new retail building on Germantown Parkway.

Brixmor has applied for a $600,000 building permit for a new one-story, 10,720-square-foot retail building at 2825 N. Germantown Parkway. A phone number for Orlando, Fla.-based architecture and engineering firm Cuhaci & Peterson is listed on the application.

11. Local World Market Stores Closing -

The World Market stores that came to Memphis only three years ago are closing.

Cost Plus Inc., the owner of the retail chain, reported this week it would close 26 stores and exit eight markets, including Memphis.

13. New Retail Concept Enters Local Market -

In about three weeks, the world will get a little flatter for Memphis bargain hunters.

World Market, a retailer that was founded in San Francisco as a modest import business, will open its doors to shoppers at three Memphis-area locations, where they'll be able to fill their carts with an international treasure trove of items such as sarongs, tribal masks and hand-crafted baskets.
