Though the restaurant partially takes its name from co-owner Edward Bogard, it also an acronym for “Buying One Gives Another Rare Dish” as each meal purchased at the restaurant will provide another meal for a person in need thanks to a partnership with the Mid-South Food Bank

Chef David Scott Walker has signed a lease to open Schweinehaus, a restaurant that will feature servers decked out in traditional Germanic dress and communal, handmade wood tables found in many German beer halls, at 2110 Madison Ave.

The revitalization of Overton Square can perhaps be best summed up with a famous quote often attributed to Mark Twain: “History does not repeat itself, but it does rhyme.”

The history of the Midtown entertainment district dates back to late 1970, when T.G.I. Friday’s opened its first franchised location on Madison Avenue near Cooper Street following the passage of a referendum vote allowing liquor by the drink citywide a year prior.

The blue banner that hung until recently at the curved building at Cooper Street and Madison Avenue and read “Returning in 2012” will soon ring true for Overton Square and its developer, Loeb Properties Inc.

The 100-year-old, 5,826-square-foot, two-story building housed Yosemite’s Sam’s for 39 years before Loeb Properties Inc. acquired the property from Faye Pannell in August for $350,000.
