NEW YORK (AP) — Nobody was expecting this round of corporate earnings reports to be great. But companies' underwhelming results are still rattling investors.

Stocks plunged Tuesday in one of the worst days on Wall Street this year. Big-name companies reported weak quarterly revenue and lowered their forecasts for the rest of the year.

69. Lowenstein Building, Neighbors Born Again -

There were times in the past 25 years or so when Downtown watchers believed it was only a matter of time before the old Lowenstein Building would crumble from neglect.

Also known to longtime Memphians as the Rhodes Jennings building, the structure on the southeast corner of Main Street and Jefferson Avenue, was considered an eyesore. It was the case study behind an anti-neglect ordinance passed by city officials in the early 1990s.

The Glenmary at Evergreen has a new owner and a new purpose - again.

Tacoma, Wash.-based Gintz Group recently scrapped its original idea to convert the two-building, 172-unit Midtown apartment complex at 1550 North Parkway into condominiums and instead will turn it into an independent- and assisted-living senior housing facility, said Wade Lewis, project manager for the company's Memphis region.
