During a visit to Memphis in April, Andrew Young was talking with reporters about his lengthy public history – being part of Dr. Martin Luther King’s inner circle, a congressman, mayor of Atlanta, U.S. Ambassador to the United Nations. It was as he talked about King’s death in Memphis that Young, without any prompting, talked about a trio of Memphis attorneys – Benjamin Hooks, Russell Sugarmon and A. W. Willis – that were the key to his and King’s efforts to get things done in Memphis and the surrounding region.

NASHVILLE (AP) - The state attorney general says a proposal to ban prosecutors from offering plea bargains in drunken driving cases would violate the state constitution.

Attorney General Bob Cooper says the Tennessee Constitution prohibits the General Assembly from interfering with the discretion of district attorneys.

4. Republicans Propose Bills to Strengthen DUI Laws -

NASHVILLE (AP) - Republican leaders are proposing a series of bills they say would further crack down on drunken driving in Tennessee, including a measure that would allow officers to immediately confiscate licenses during arrests.
