1. Memphis Drawing More Out-of-Town Retailers -

Second- and third-tier retail markets are seeing a resurgence nationally, and Memphis’ own economic recovery is garnering attention from out-of-town retailers.

Among the higher-end retailers preparing for their first local store are Ikea, which is set to open in the next few months, and Trader Joe’s and Nordstrom Rack, both of which are in their early stages and are expected to open by the end of 2017.

4. The Paper Source To Join Saddle Creek -

The Paper Source, a gift retailer offering fine paper, custom invitations and announcements and stationery, is the latest store to join the Shops of Saddle Creek.

Set to open summer 2016, the 2,391-square-foot store will be located at Saddle Creek South near Brooks Brothers.

The Shops of Saddle Creek is in store for a multimillion-dollar makeover and expansion, a project that will likely be the first of several development dominoes to fall in Germantown.

Texas-based Trademark Property Co., which has operated the retail center since 2011, will expand the portion of the 148,000-square-foot lifestyle center on the southwest side of Poplar Avenue and West Street in Germantown.

Trademark Property Co. announced Monday it has been hired to lease and manage the Shops at Saddle Creek, Germantown’s 148,000-square-foot lifestyle center at Poplar Avenue and Germantown Road.
