1. Deloitte Promotes Vince DeGutis -

Vince DeGutis, a partner in Deloitte Tax LLP, has been named Deloitte’s Memphis managing partner.
In his new role, DeGutis is responsible for overseeing the Memphis office, enhancing Deloitte’s brand and reputation in the business and civic community, and facilitating revenue growth by advancing targeting and growth activities. He is also responsible for the development and implementation strategies to attract and retain the next generation of leaders within Deloitte.

2. WKNO Hosts Tea Party, Downton Abbey Screening -

WKNO is inviting the public for tea and crumpets – donated by John’s Pantry – and a screening of the first episode of “Masterpiece Classic: Downton Abbey” season two, Jan. 7 at 4 p.m. at the WKNO Digital Media Center.

The Memphis Chapter of the Public Relations Society of America will hold a luncheon Wednesday at 11:45 a.m. at the Fogelman Executive Conference Center on the University of Memphis campus. Jackie Nichols of Playhouse on the Square will be named 2010 Communicator of the Year. The luncheon is free for PRSA members, $25 for nonmembers and $15 for students. The Orpheum Theatre will unveil the 2011-2012 Broadway Series Monday at 2 p.m. at the theater, 203 S. Main St. The announcement will include a special sneak peek video presentation of the new season and an exclusive performance by two cast members of “Memphis the Musical.” A Q&A session will follow. 6. Memphis Artists Featured on TV’s ‘Creative License’ -

7. WKNO Mounts Foreclosure Education Blitz -

Public broadcasting audiences in Memphis soon will have access to a new fountain of information about the mortgage crisis that will span TV, radio, the Internet and the printed page.

Next month, the local public television station whose call letters stand for “Window of Knowledge” will kick off “Facing the Mortgage Crisis.” And WKNO is launching the project with the same mission implied in the station’s name.

8. The Greatest Generation Speaks -

Ken Burns' PBS documentary "The Civil War," seen by some 40 million viewers during its 1990 broadcast, made a celebrity out of Shelby Foote.

The Memphis scribe and historian, who lived in a Tudor-style house in Midtown before he died in 2005, was one of the commentators interviewed for the series. It helped that he looked the part, with his closely cropped gray beard and dignified drawl.

9. WKNO Continues Scouting for New Home -

The Memphis public television station whose call sign is an abbreviation of the phrase "Window of Knowledge" may get to celebrate its 50th anniversary this year with new digs.

WKNO officials are eyeing a site in East Memphis as a possibility for relocating the station's studio and offices.
