1. Multiple Memphis Tigers To Be in NFL Camps -

Former University of Memphis quarterback Paxton Lynch was the headliner, as expected, being drafted by the Denver Broncos in the first round and 26th overall.

But other players reached free agent deals with clubs after the draft concluded. Two players, tight end Alan Cross and offensive lineman Taylor Fallin, latched on with Tampa Bay.

Not only was that apartment destroyed, another two apartments housing four Tiger football players – Taylor Fallin, Tevin Jones, Ryan Mack and Greg McKillion – sustained substantial water damage.

5. Vols Nearly Set on Offense as Season Approaches -

With Tennessee’s football team three weeks into fall camp, the offensive depth charts are set at some positions, while others remain open.

UT coach Butch Jones enters the 2015 season with no questions at quarterback or running back. His has plenty of receivers and all should get their share of playing time.

6. Bradley Leaving Memphis For Missouri Athletics Job -

Another University of Memphis athletics department member is moving on to join the University of Missouri.

Ryan Bradley, 33, will become senior associate athletics director of strategic communications at Missouri. Bradley previously worked with current Missouri deputy director of athletics Wren Baker at the U of M and oversaw Memphis athletics’ external units, including public relations, branding, marketing, ticketing and digital media.

7. Memphis Kicker Named to Phil Steele Preseason Team -

University of Memphis junior place-kicker Jake Elliott, the reigning American Athletic Conference Special Teams Player of the Year and a two-time all-conference selection, has been named to Phil Steele’s 2015 Preseason AAC Team, the publication announced.

8. Now Fuente Can Point to the Trophies -

Recruiting is selling. Yeah, sometimes it’s buying, too, but that’s another, more cynical, column for another day.

On Wednesday, Feb. 4, the University of Memphis football program had the most upbeat signing day it has had in a long time. Most of that has to do with what coach Justin Fuente and his team did last season.

9. Vols Take Plenty of Momentum Into Offseason -

KNOXVILLE – There’s nothing like going into the offseason on a high note. The Vols will be riding the momentum from the resounding 45-28 victory against Iowa in the Jan. 2 TaxSlayer Bowl through the end of recruiting season, winter workouts, spring practices and into the summer months.

11. Groups: $12 Million Mystery Donation was Crime -

WASHINGTON (AP) – Two election watchdog organizations on Thursday urged the Justice Department and Federal Election Commission to investigate more than $12 million in campaign contributions that were mysteriously funneled through two little-known companies in Tennessee to a prominent tea party group. The origin of the money, the largest anonymous political donations in a campaign year filled with them, remains a secret.
