WASHINGTON (AP) – The Supreme Court ruled Tuesday that states cannot be sued under the Family and Medical Leave Act for refusing to give an employee time off to recover from an illness. One justice said the decision "dilutes the force" of the law that allows millions of working Americans time off to care for sick family members or to have children.

9. Unmasking Food Reviewer Has Widespread Ramifications -

The incident that rocked the national restaurant industry occurred a few days before Christmas in Los Angeles.

S. Irene Virbila, restaurant reviewer for the Los Angeles Times since 1994, was waiting with her husband and two friends for a table at the new Red Medicine, a “Vietnamese canteen” in Beverly Hills. Virbila and her party had been cooling their heels for 45 minutes after their reservation time when the restaurant’s managing partner, Noah Ellis, approached the critic with a camera, snapped a picture of her, and ejected her and her companions from the establishment. He then posted Virbila’s image on the restaurant’s website, from which you had better believe it was downloaded and distributed all over the Internet.
