Attorney Peter Pettit has joined Mid-South Food Bank as chief development officer following his recent retirement as a partner in the Memphis office of Bass, Berry & Sims PLC. In his new role, Pettit works closely with food bank leaders to develop strategies and relationships with major gift donors, and specifically is working to complete the $12.5 million “Hunger to Hope” capital campaign.

Next Day Access offers wheelchair ramps, stair lifts, bathroom safety products and other accessibility products for people with disabilities or accessibility challenges.

4. Memphis Merck Site Spared From Closure -

Merck & Co Inc. announced Thursday that it will close eight manufacturing sites, but Memphis is not on the list.

The pharmaceutical giant is closing the manufacturing plants as well as eight research sites to streamline operations following its merger with Schering-Plough last November. With the merger, Merck acquired the Memphis-based consumer health products division of Schering-Plough Corp.

5. Dishmon Joins UT Medical Group -

Dr. Dwight “Dan” Dishmon has joined the Department of Medicine at UT Medical Group.
Dishmon is an interventional cardiologist and cares for adults with ischemic heart disease and peripheral arterial disease.
He earned his medical degree and completed his internal medicine residency and general cardiology fellowship training at the University of Tennessee Health Science Center. He later completed additional fellowship training at Michigan State University’s Borgess Medical Center. 

6. Music of Duke Ellington To Kick Start BPACC Showcase Season -

The Bartlett Performing Arts and Conference Center (BPACC) kicks off its Showcase season with a tribute concert of the utmost sophistication. Jazz and blues singer Joyce Cobb and pianist Donald Brown will host a “Symphonic All-Duke Ellington Night” Saturday at 8 p.m.

7. Hampton Hotels Names Smith Senior Director of Product Service -

Kurt Smith has been named senior director of product service and development at Hampton Hotels. Previously, Smith served Hampton as director of global brand integration. Prior to that position, he was the director of hotel performance support.

8. YMCA Board of Directors Names New CEO -

The YMCA metropolitan board of directors named Keith G. Johnson CEO of YMCA of the Memphis & the Mid-South. Johnson is a 27-year YMCA veteran who has served in various positions in Atlanta, Fort Worth and New Orleans. His earliest position with YMCA of Memphis & the Mid-South was as vice president and executive director of the Fogelman Downtown YMCA. He graduated from Georgia State University.
